Quality is never an accident; it is always the result of high intention, sincere effort, intelligent direction and skillful execution; it represents the wise choice of many alternatives. - William A. Foster
Rimland Builders is about commitment. We are committed to the client, the project and the craft. This guiding principle challenges us to continually provide the best experience and workmanship possible whether in our custom shop or in the field. Our commitment is not only evident in our work but also in our relationships with our clients and the people we work with. The individual attention that each project receives distinguishes us as true craftsmen, and our projects as excellent.
Since 2002 Rimland Construction has been crafting homes that are enduring and aesthetic. Our belief is that every detail matters when building a home that is sustainable, timeless and beautiful. To achieve this we align ourselves with trades, architects, and designers that are as devoted to their craft as we are to ours.
We are relentlessly focused on delivering a premium product & experience. We are able to do this through continual research, education and most importantly reflection on our experiences.
Our Team
Rimland Builders has a deep bench of craftspeople, artisans, fine artists, sculptors, painters, metal workers, and master woodworkers. We have more than twenty years of sourcing exceptional talent and materials for specialty projects and fabrications. Our carpenters are accomplished craftspeople in the truest sense, trained not just in technique but in material science, grain direction, adhesion, and installation methods; all factors that determine whether our work truly lasts. We are students of the craft, always learning and testing better ways to achieve results that stand the test of time. Curiosity of craft and building science is at the heart of everything we do. Our trade partners have become family over two decades of collaboration, deepening a network of relationships and shared expertise that elevates every project we take on. We welcome the chance to work closely with designers, bringing the technical precision and deep material knowledge to protect and realize their vision from concept through completion.
David Rimland
David came up through the trades. Along the way he made a habit of finding the best people in every discipline and learning from them directly. A graduate of the fine woodworking program at North Bennet Street School, a Boston institution widely regarded as one of the most rigorous trade schools in the country, he trained in timber framing under master craftsmen and holds a Master's in Construction Management from NYU. What he earned on job sites he put back into spec builds, using them to pressure-test and sharpen his carpentry, woodworking, and design convictions. Those bets proved out, not just on paper, but in the caliber of custom work that followed.
Twenty years building exclusively in the Hamptons. Every project personally led. No hand-offs, no buffer between David and the work. The goal is always the same: build something built to last generations.
An accomplished woodworker, skier, and wing foil surfer, David brings the same relentless pursuit of excellence to the job site that he brings to everything else he does.
Rimland is small on purpose. Small enough to know every client, every detail, every decision. That's not a constraint. It's the whole model.
Justine Rimland
Justine ensures that every Rimland project runs with the same precision and care that goes into building it. Her sharp financial acumen keeps projects on track, transparent, and beautifully managed from start to finish.
But Justine is far more than the business mind behind Rimland. She grew up in a family of woodworkers and craftspeople, and that upbringing gave her a lifelong eye for quality, the kind that notices everything. An oil painter, fine cook, passionate gardener and a student of interior design and styling, she brings an instinctive understanding of space, material, and beauty to every conversation.
When clients work with Justine, they feel the difference, someone who understands the craft deeply, cares about the details genuinely, and is committed to making the entire experience as exceptional as the finished home.
Hawke Edson
Raised on his family's Cutchogue farm, Hawke learned the trades from the ground up, and that foundation shows in everything he does. A welder, mechanic, and woodworker with a natural eye for detail, he brings an instinctive understanding of how things are made and why it matters.
Hawke studies the plans, absorbs the design intent, and holds the thread on every detail that separates a good project from a great one. His good judgment and positive presence make him a natural collaborator. He is equally at ease with designers, architects, and tradespeople, and when problems arise, his instinct is always to find a solution.
